BMW Navigator VI Ghosting

I purchased a BMW R1250 Adv second hand from a private person in July 2022. The bike had 19,000km on the clock and it came with a BMW Navigator VI.

My bike was stationary for about 6 weeks from the start of June 2023 when I had a smiley repaired on the front rim.

When I got on the bike again, the Navigator VI powered by Garmin had a flat battery and when it came on while charging it suddenly was “ghosting” a well known problem with these devices.

I went to BMW SA with the knowledge this well known well established brand would honour their good name with a warrantee claim.

Turns out, because I dont have an invoice for the device, they will not honour any watrantee claim. And I cannot get the invoice for obvious reasons.

The device could only have been bought at BMW and they should have serial number records for age determination if thats the issue.

It seems to me that they just have so many claims on these devices that they would do anything, including harming their brand just to save.

I am considering further actions at this time but I am bitterly sadenned by such poor stance on their responsibility towards a branded device.

I have friends with exactly the same problem and there are numerous units with same problem lying on the local BMW dealers desk.
