Appreciation of Service

On Wednesday I was travelling through Worcester on my way to Plettenberg Bay. About ten kilometres out of Worcester in the direction of Robertson, I felt that something may be wrong as my vehicle was not performing as it should and the computer showed that the right rear wheel pressure was low.

When I check it physically, I found that the inside wall of the tyre was being shredded. I however made it back to Worcester by driving extremely slowly. Once in Worcester, I went to BMW to have my tyre replaced, however they did not have the tyre size available and could only get it the next day. The lady at the parts service counter was very friendly and very helpful as she made calls to all the tyre dealers in town. But this was no avail, as no had it readily available.

Having lost hope and coming to terms that I may well be stranded in the town, I went to Best Drive, 121 High road, Worcester. This is where I met Gert, who just like Garthdine from BMW (my apologies if this spelling is wrong) started making calls to the people he knows (and there were many) but all to no avail. 245/45/18 run flat tyres are hard to come by. After what seemed liked and eternity, I bought a replacement tyre from Gert, just to find that my locknut was not in my vehicle. So the nut had to be knocked out and the wheel was eventually removed.

Once this was done, another problem arose, the rim was chipped and cracked on various places and had to be replaced. The Tyre Technician at Best Drive did some magic and sealed the cracks and after spending about five hours in Worcester, I was eventually back on the road.

Had it not been for people like Garthdine from BMW and especially Gert from Best Drive, I doubt that I would have left the town on the same day. The experience reaffirmed my faith in humanity and people involved in the service industry. Thank you very to the two of you who are shining examples of what service to clients should be like.
