Unwanted contract

I was in the process of porting my number from Telkom to Vodacom only to have RMCS hijack my number and give me a contract without my consent or knowledge. I have never requested this service and did not even know who RMCS was until I was saddled with getting them to cancel the contract. I went to my local Edgars store and the person at the mobile counter sent an email to the company requesting them to cancel the contract and furnish me with proof that I consented to the contract. Instead they respond by confirming that I am their client. How is it possible for a company to do this? Is it not *******? Or has Edcon /RCMS resorted to desperate ******* tactics to corner a share of the cellular market? I find it incomprehensible and disgusting that I have to use my time and resources to cancel a contract I did not request to begin with. this is really shameful given the already bad press this company has received on Hellopeter.
