The Inefficiency is Ridiculous.

Dear Blake and Associates,

Here's an idea for you - why not harass people who don't actually pay their accounts on time?I have received calls from your department every single day since Saturday. I phoned in yesterday to find out what the heck was going on and was told that I had no payment arrangement in place.

If that's the case, what about the R250 I've been paying on each of my accounts ON time every month? Anyway, this morning I got another call asking me to confirm the arrangement. So if there's no arrangement in place, I don't see why I've been paying this money in every month.

So the payments should stop, don't you think? That way, you'll have a reason to waste my time four days in a row and you can explain to Woolworths why someone who was paying R250 per month is no longer doing so despite the debt still being outstanding. .

You can then explain to them that your company is not capable of keeping simple records, or an arrangement in place. And no, I will NOT sign a debit order. So, until I get confirmation in writing from you that there is an arrangement in place and that this ridiculous harrassment will stop, the payments will stop. I also want confirmation that you will remove me from your call list. If you must contact me, do so via email.

In addition, I want a complete statement of all the payments made. I've only ever received one statement over the entire time and that was because I asked for it. My suspicion is that you charge for every one of those calls so this is just a way to pad your bill. Which, considering that the In Duplum rule limits both the amount of interest and fees that are paid to no more than double the original amount of the debt is something that you're not allowed to do.

You can send the letter and my statement to my email address. I reiterate - not ONE single payment, until I get the confirmation that I want.

Have a nice day.

Now what a great response from Indrani and Mohammed. I got the statement that I requested and they confirmed that they don't charge for those calls and SMSs. I think maybe the call centre people should take some lessons from these two. They offer top notch service.
