Suspected Spam Call or Terrible phone etiquette

I received a call from them today, 3 May 2022 and the caller i.d said suspected spam. I was asked if it was M. Mackay speaking and I said yes. The caller asked me for my i.d as confirmation but before giving it I asked what the call was in connection with. She said it was a outstanding account but would not tell me who she was calling on behalf of. When I refused to give my i.d she hung up. If this was a bonafide call then the operator is seriously lacking in phone etiquette.
