Horror Bus ride ....still in transit
I booked a bus for my 86 year old mother and my 62 year old sister to travel from Plettenbergbay to Port Shepstone on Bus 112 departing 14 March 2025. The entire experience is and has been horrific from the start. The bus arrived 1 hour late. We asked the conductor and driver to assist in getting a seat for both of them to share as my mother needs assistance in getting up and walking. The immediate answer was NO. Not let me see if someone was willing to share or give seats as most seats had single occupants. A seat was full of luggage and we were told that that seat was for the driver? I had to help my mom onto the bus as no assistance was offered or a small step (as generally available to assist the elderly). The driver immediately said GET OFF. Again not willing to assist. We had to shuffle through the bus to try and get seats. The bus driver then started shouting aggressively saying get off and I told him we are trying to get my mom seated as both my mom and sister by this time we're not seated and trying to get organized. So my question... was he going to drive off with occupants not seated? He was speaking in his language and not conversing in English...highly disrespectfully and clearly being ******. I then told him that the bus had been 1 hour late and now trying to rush. I then told him that I would report him and he refused to give me his full name and surname. He had no name badge on either. I immediately reported the matter to your call centre as I was concerned that my sister and mom would be victimized during their 14 hour trip. The call centre agent assured me this would be escalated and that this would be dealt with......but in true South African style nothing was done. I made contact with my sister this morning just to find out one of their carry on bags had been ****** and they were harassed by some of the ****** occupants on the bus sitting behind them. They wanted to recline their seats but we're cussed and bashed by occupants behind them, yet the seat in front of them were allowed to recline and also the same occupants behind my mom also reclined. They are now in Mthata and still have 5 hours to go on this nightmare bus. I would like a full report in what will be done about this matter and if not taken seriously I will take matters further as this is not acceptable by any means. If this is acceptable opperational standards then you should state on your terms and conditions NO WHITES alloud on our busses! I await your call!
