VW, Big mistake.
I bought a brand new 2019 polo vivo in the beginning of the year, specifically the 4/01/2019.
My first issue with it was the passenger seat, It struggled to move back and forth, I was told I must “wear” it out in order for it to move smoothly.
The second issue I had was when I went to go collect my number (which wasn’t even registered), I had to drive to the dealership in Silver lakes Pretoria.
On the way there, the engine light went on from Kelvin (Close to Woodmead) all the way to Pretoria, By now, I was sitting on less than 2000km’s.
I asked the dealership to have a look at the car and they came back to say nothing was wrong.
I went and took the car back and drove home experiencing the same issue’s I went there with.
Later that night I had a family emergency where I had to travel to Sheshego in Pietersburg, the struggle I went through on an incline with the car left me uneasy as I was told nothing is wrong with the car.
I then contacted the dealership on Monday to have them re-check the car and was told to contact the nearest dealership to me. I didn’t manage with them as I was told that they won’t look at my car as they wont get paid for the job.
I had to now go back and contact the dealership and was told they would send a courtesy and have a look to fix whatever is wrong with it.
I believe that when one buys a new product it should work without me having to “wear it out”. I refuse to take the car back as I don’t want to be deal with such issues, it’s the same reason why I bought a new car instead of a used one.
I had the car taken in only to be told that nothing is wrong with it as per the diagnostics repost, subsequent to that I went to go collect it.
Upon collection, the car sounded entirely different when I started it and it had more power. It makes sense that it was fixed as it took the dealership close to 48hrs to come back with a report that says the vehicle is in perfect condition.
I took the car back with everything sorted out, even the seat was fixed but the diagnostics report came back saying that it never had an issue. Evan the Team leader changed his statement on the report saying that nothing was wrong with it.
I am currently still waiting for my number plate, my second temporary license has expired and I still haven’t had feedback from them. I’ve had to now call them to find out how far my number plate is, only to be told that it still hasn’t arrived and it will be couriered to me tomorrow.
I heard this before, I was called by two different individuals from the dealership who promised me this three weeks ago.
My biggest mistakes in all of this was not taking a screenshot of the engine light that went on, not taking a video to show proof of the seat not working and having bought a VW which really was my favourite brand. I know nothing will come of this as I’ve tried the various avenues of escalation without success.
So for my own peace of mind, never will I ever, ever, buy another VW again. As a first time buyer, this has been the absolute worst experience, service wise and everything else to do with the individuals that failed to assist
