No customer protection

I bought an item that was advertised as new on the bidorbuy site. I also called bidorbuy to make sure that this is the case and they insured me that if an item is advertised as new then its new. On payment, they also indicated that the delivery charge is zero, so I've assumed that the item will be delivered to the address which I had to fill in on the website. The next day I contacted the Seller (Sunrose) to arrange for delivery, only to get notified that I still need to pay delivery; therefore I organised my own delivery. When my guy pitch up to collect the item it was not on site as promised the previous day, but they asked him to come back an hour later. He went back after an hour and found the item on the Seller's premises covered in gladwrap plastic. He also was not aware of the fact that the item should be new or used. He was only the "courier" in this case. (The item - under counter bar fridge- was for a client that we have re-done their bar area at their offices.) So, my "courier" delivered the fridge to my client, still wrapped in the plastic and left. The next day my client called me VERY ANGRY that the fridge is full of dents and scratches and the motor makes loud noises!! I immediately took it up with the seller (Sunrose), which in turn was very rude and told me that it was the "courier" that damaged the item. (keeping in mind that it was wrapped in plastic (scratches and dents) and also I can't think how on earth the motor is affected if the courier damaged the item) I've also send an emailed the seller, on which a lady from bidorbuy called me and asked me if I am happy with my product. I've told her my story and she promised to look into the matter. A few hours later she called me back and told me that they have video footage of the courier "inspecting" the product. Yes he walked around the fridge and he checked for dust on the motor, but like I previously said, the product was wrapped in plastic and he could not see much of the fridge. bidorbuy is now throwing their hands up in the air, I did business with them in the first place, they are not taking sides and it is now my responsibility to take it up with the seller and sort it out with them. My question is now is: What about consumer rights? Why can't bidorbuy not protect their customers from false advertising??? I have bought a "new" fridge, which in the end turned out a wreck. I often do online shopping through other companies and never had this bad experience before. I will surely never buy through bidorbuy again as they do not protect their customers at all.
