Very poor service from Biddolphs

Over the past 15 years, we have used Biddulphs on four occasions to move our household contents and had previously been reasonably satisfied. However, during our most recent move, after renovations at our new home, we specified all items be moved from the garage (where it was stored) back into the house. The issues began when the moving team arrived. Despite the fact that the full fee had already been paid, we were informed that only two movers were available as Biddolphs were running on a “skeleton crew”, and they would be responsible for carrying all items up two flights of stairs. Naturally, this was impractical, as several items—including a double-door fridge—required more manpower. I informed the driver as well as Alexander that they will not be able to carry some of the items. That was when he was still available. As it turned out, 2 men could not carry 5 of the items and we were forced to wait six hours for reinforcements to arrive. Unfortunately, matters only worsened from there. Every one of the 18 items that were eventually moved sustained damage. In addition, the movers caused significant damage to our walls, doors, and doorframes while struggling with heavy pieces. It was evident that the staff assigned were not adequately trained or equipped for the task. Attempts to resolve the situation during the move were also frustrating. The scheduler, Alexander, consistently avoided our calls when we sought urgent assistance. In total, it took nearly 10 hours to move just 18 items—every single one of them damaged in the process.

Hello Ilze, Thank you for being a long-time client. We sincerely apologize for the frustration you experienced. Your move was scheduled as a small load (less than half a standard garage size approximately), and the initial inventory didn't list any extra heavy items, making two movers adequate for the job. Upon learning about the unexpected heavy items, and due to high demand at month's end, we could only allocate additional crew later in the afternoon. The initial two movers did successfully move all other items throughout the course of the day. Regarding the items, our notes indicate pre-existing marks, which is common for used household effects. No initial feedback was given to the office after the move was completed but our manager has since called you to arrange a resolution for what we can address. Thank you.

Please go back to the initial inventory as you missed the heavy items on the list I submitted, such as the double door fridge. When I spoke to one of your staff before the move (she called to confirm certain items) I mentioned the solid mahogany cupboard. It was not later that afternoon when additional crew arrived, it was early evening.
