"Make Your Next Move Your Worst Move"

My family and I relocated from JHB to KZN on the 29th November. Biddulphs phoned my husband and informed him that the moval truck would be at our JHB premises between 7am and 8am. All good right? Well come the 29th and 8am came and went with no moval truck. I phoned at 8:30 and I was informed that the truck would be there "after" 9am! They informed me that this was explained to my husband and that he was well aware of the statement. Well I'm not sure who told him this because I was with him when the phone call was made to him and there was no such thing said. Eventually the truck arrived and they started packing the truck (thank goodness we packed the boxes ourselves) and they were surprisingly fast... For the first hour atleast... Then they went to the pace of a sloth. I went to the driver and asked him if he could ask his guys to work a bit faster as we are running quite behind schedule , he conveniently turned around and said he wont go and speak to them because he has a cramp in his foot (is this guy for real?) So I phoned Biddulphs and asked to speak to the General Manager and I spoke to a guy named Jafta who was, according to the receptionist, the Foreman. (Note that I had phoned several times and either the phone was just ringing or I was put on hold). He informed me that he will sort out the situation and he spoke to the driver. But alas... The pace did not increase at all!

To my surprise as I walk into my bedroom I see a lovely dent in the ceiling and a broken tile, I phoned Biddulphs again and spoke to Jafta yet once again and told him I want to speak to the General Manager, he informed me that he will give the GM the message to call me back. (Which happened on numerous occasions during other phonecalls during the course of the day as well just fyi). After a whole lot of useless phonecalls, I eventually got hold of one of the CEO's of the company and explained the story (very nice guy btw) he heard my issues and helped me out to the best of his capability. I also learned that the so-called foreman Jafta was in actual fact THE BRANCH MANAGER!!!!! None the less... The moval truck only left at 14:00 that afternoon, making us 3 hours behind schedule and we only arrived in KZN 20:00 that evening to collect our new houses keys. Great huh?

2 days later the moval truck arrived in KZN and upon arrival the first thing I see is the boxes are squished. Just wonderful. So they start unpacking the truck and everything else seemed fine. Thats what I thought... My washing machine had dents and scratches (the driver still had the ordacity to say that it was not from the move, but little does he know that I still have my cooler box in bubble wrap where it was scratched and bubble wrap torn to prove that the items were scratched), my bedroom wall unit was dented and the edges were damaged, my free standing fan was bent and the best part is a priceless family heirloom which was passed down for 5 generations just btw, was broken. Even after we stated that ALL items are to be bubble wrapped this one was only wrapped in plastic. Thank goodness we always take insurance out on things.

So the following Monday (still in the 7day time to make claims), I sent the sales consultant an email with all my issues. I heard nothing back... Wednesday I called and spoke to the sales consultant where she clearly stated that the email has been sent on to the Manager but he is too busy to attend to emails. It is now 5days after I sent the mail and still no response.

So thank you to Biddulphs the worst moval experience ever! ! !
