Do not use them! Broken/****** items, late delivery (by months) and no response (even with insurance)

At first I was a little upset with the whole situation, but now I'm enraged at Biddulphs' carelessness! I have tried to contact them on several occasions, but have been blatantly ignored. Hopefully this will get someone's attention!

My partner and I made an international move from Pretoria, South Africa to 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands on 15 December 2015 with insurance we took out on various items through Biddulphs. They told us it would take around 8 weeks to deliver our boxes, but we only received them on 6 April 2016 (16 weeks after they packed and removed our belongings). That's a LONG time to be living out of suitcases!

We found the packers to be very unfriendly, but I attributed that to the fact that they were there to get the job done, and not make small talk. We even tried to offer them snacks and coffee, but little did we know, they were *****ing things from us left, right and center.

As the delivery took longer than expected, our initial plans needed to change and we decided to rent a furnished house for a while. The movers finally delivered the boxes 4 months later to the new address and packed them all into our spare bedroom. Two boxes were missing, but were found in Belgium and delivered to us two days later.

Some of our furniture had minor scratches and dents and my dressing table leg had broken off. Various items were completely broken and had to be thrown away, including: Two large plastic crates, multiple picture frames, a vase, modern decor pot, a special Coricraft globe, and one of my had a crack running across it antiques (I pleaded with the movers to be extra cautious with the antiques). Items were poorly wrapped and packed. I had already carefully packed some things into nice 'Tupperware' containers, but the movers took the things out and put them into Biddulphs boxes and stole my 'Tupperware' boxes. What makes it more bizarre is that they wrapped and packed EMPTY old cardboard boxes!

Now this is the part that made me furious: I discovered that many things were missing, including my brand new Ryobi drill, and a rose gold watch which I bought on a cruise ship. I sealed precious, sentimental watches (a Bentley replica and a Rolex replica) in a container and when the boxes were delivered the seal was broken and thrown into a different box and the watches were missing. All these things added up to thousands of Rands.

The ******* even stole a VERY sentimental silver dollar (which had NO value to them) along with the container, but left the accompanying letter, adding insult to injury!

I wouldn't be surprised if I discover more items are missing over time. It's nearly impossible to take a complete inventory of your entire house before you move!

Bidduphs did not acknowledge my complaints in any way and have not even offered to reimburse us for the INSURED items that were ******/broken. Furthermore, I asked if they had made any inquiry into the men who packed our belongings and the theft, but still no response.

Bottom line: they might be cheap, but the money you spend on replacing broken/****** items, the delays and the frustration of it all, makes more sense to spend a little more cash and go with a company that actually gives a ****!
