Derisory compensation for poor service. Arrogant MD.

Quite simply, I would not recommend Biddulphs International after a very poor experience. We have recently moved to the UK. The goods were held in storage and a requested delivery date was agreed. When I followed up to get a container number expecting the goods to be in transit, they were still in the Cape Town depot! After much panic and trying to find a suitable vessel, the upshot was that the goods would be two weeks late! This act of negligence cost me R30,000 not accounting for the stress and inconvenience in having to find further temporary accommodation, especially with a seven month old baby in tow. To be fair, the Cape Town office were apologetic, but getting fair compensation proved to be futile. In having the case escalated to the national Managing Director I was hoping for apology, empathy and fair recompense. I did get an apology, but I did not get fair compensation. The MD went so far as to admit Biddulphs were at fault, but tried to convince me that it was not negligence on their behalf but an honest mistake!! I don't care what you call it, it cost me R30,000!!! As with a previous complaint on this site, they wanted to offer me R500!!! I did get a slight improvement on that number, but nowhere near what I deemed fair. The arrogance and "I've got your money already, so go and sing" attitude is what really irked me and compelled me to write this review. POOR SERVICE AND SICKENING ARROGANCE - and therefore extremely poor value for money. That is how I will remember my one and only experience with Biddulphs.
