AVOID BIDDULPHS FOR FURNITURE RELOCATION - SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE
We recently made use of Biddulphs to relocate us from Pretoria to George. I was advised by a friend to seriously rethink this and decided against the advice. We committed to a competitive quote from Biddulph. The relocation started off on thE wrong foot as it was extremely disorganized. Before this date I have always relocated myself and opted to avoid the more expensive yet probably organized furniture removal companies. Biddulphs are disorganized and very little communication should be expected. We allowed their staff the use of a staff toilet on site yet they violated our domestic helper's personal belongings and stole her wages. Upon confrontation obviously, everybody denied their guilt and did I not opt for the frustration of involving our local SAPS - there was no time for circus acts. It appeared that the initial consultation was done incompletely to the extent that our furniture had to be forced into two trucks. We have mostly Antique furniture thus opted not to insure the furniture as it can not be replaced. Several mirrors were broken. All wooden furniture has some form of damage to it as care was definitely not taken. Staff was more interested in what could be baited from the offload than they were to offload into designated areas. Many expensive furniture pieces were damaged. Many mirrors were broken and removed from site with the promise that it would be repaired. Furniture pieces were only delivered weeks after the load was offloaded and wrapped in plastic - attempts to offload and leave only to be stopped by us after finding that the couches delivered and cautiously wrapped by Biddulph staff was entirely broken off AND DELIBERATELY HIDDEN. The manager in George Riaan was on site on the day of the offload after we made them aware of the damages but there was no interest shown in resolving this matter, queries and definitely no attempt to remain in contact whilst the promised remedy was attended to. Several emails sent, several call made - many promises. No solutions offered, no attempt to compensate. No acknowledgment of liability. The bulk of my household furniture damaged, some beyond repair and still no feedback on when we can expect to receive the broken mirror back - repaired. Definitely a company I would not recommend to anyone and definitely an experience at a premium I would advise you to avoid. Do not use Biddulphs - Jacques V, your warnings should have been heard. Avoid this company at any cost. Do not consider this company for a long range relocation.
