Price Of a Life

<p>My mom has been to casualty twice, on the third account the doctor advised that an MRI would be necessary, after gettting approval from the Medical Aid she went on to the Radiology Department who there told her that she owes R1800.00 and this needs to be paid first in order for her to have the MRI done, My mom then said she can make arrangements to pay monthly R200. Nicky the accounts manager politely told my mom no and if she cant afford it she must go to a goverment hospital, my mom then said what if something happens as my mom cannot move her neck, Nicky again said this is not her problem. I then called the Manager Martine and let her know what was the issue, she said that if it was life threatening she had to do the MRI but she said she will get back to me.</p> <p> </p> <p>Martine then called me and said she spoke to Nicky and the whole amount must be paid in order for her to do the MRI scan, further then that there is nothing they can do.</p> <p> </p> <p>There was no apology for the way my mom got spoken to nor some sort of help or solution just a dont give a stuff attitude unless you have R1800.00!!!</p> <p> </p> <p>There was no empathy no level of customer service no nothing this is the attitude health "proffectionals" have at private institutions, it makes me sick that according to NICKY the Wonderful Accounts Manager a price of someones life is estimated to R1800.00. You wouldnt accept payment terms nor see a patient You would think that there would be empathy for the sick at a private institution with the exoberent medical aid rates we pay but clearly dear Nicky and Martine has proven this to be null and void.</p> <p> </p> <p>Im disgusted that these people deal with the public on a daily basis!!!! FYI a person is a person no matter their bank balance they are not animals learn some empathy when dealing with people or move the hell over for people that can actually do a better job that they passionate about !!!</p>
