If one could sell misrepresentation

My daughter's Ford Focus went in for a service to the dealership and immediately after that the 'Change Engine Oil' light came on. Diagnosis, we may have forgotten to reset it, bring it in, customers have a lot of time for these things. Before she could take it it, the car would not start. On checking, we found that the battery had no water in it and took it to a local garage to fill. Unfortunately, three of the plugs on cells are so hidden that you need to strip some components and the guy at the garage decided to leave it. Car then went to BB Ford, Menlyn who diagnosed that the battery need replacement at R2400, so I advised her to rather get it from a battery dealer. When we personally checked the water in the battery and refilled all the cells, the battery charged perfectly and indeed was good enough to start the car after two weeks of no driving. When confronting BB on diagnosing without filling a battery, the DP told me that it is not their work to check the water in a battery and that the risk in filling a battery is too big in terms of the Consumer Act. We arranged that i take the car in for a diagnosis of the alternator, to attend to the oil change light and the bendix of the starter that has been noisy from day one. Total diagnosis revolved around proving that the battery is not new, accepted, but they could not even give me the charging voltage of the alternator. The oil light, bring it in every time when it comes on and we will reset it, again, we have so much time on our hands, can drive to Menlyn and sit around evey day. One good thing is that in resetting teh oil light the car suddenly had a lot more power proving what we suspected, something done wrong during the service. So glad that I drive a Subaru!
