Ford is **********, with a capital H!

I am typing this review due to the lack of another platform where I can complain about Ford. I DROVE my Ford Focus to the workshop of BB Ford Menlyn South Africa / BB Group Menlyn South Africa on 7 January 2022 for purposes of mechanical repairs. BB Ford Menlyn phoned me the very same day to inform me that they have PUSHED my vehicle to their wash bay (prior to mechanical repairs), where the guy did not pull up the hand brake of the vehicle infront of mine (uphill) and the front car rolled back into my vehicle and my vehicle’s door need to be replaced! BB Ford Menlyn PROMISED ME (in an email) a courtesy car for the time my vehicle will be at their panel beater and afterwards REVOKED THEIR PROMISE when it came to that point. I have phoned Ford SA about a courtesy car who would also not assist. It is 2.4 weeks today without a vehicle. My vehicle is still at their panel beater. BB Ford Menlyn DOES NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANY FEEDBACK, and it is a struggle to get any feedback out of them. They said my vehicle will return from their panel beater yesterday. When I phoned their panel beater myself, their workshop informed me that my vehicle will maybe be done within two more days! It is BB Ford Menlyn fault that my vehicle’s door needs to be replaced, they DON'T CARE ABOUT MY INCONVENIENCE caused by their UTTER INCOMPETENCE. It has been 2.4 weeks now since I parked my car at their workshop for mechanical repairs and there is no ETA. THE SERVICE IS **********. Their quote for mechanical repairs is ********** as well. The model code of my vehicle is incorrect. They quoted on a vehicle part that has been discontinued and the ETA for the said part is 2022/12/31! I will never buy a Ford again and I will never take my vehicle to BB Ford Menlyn again.

Dear Hellopeter

BB Ford Menlyn would like to set the record straight with regards to the rating given by Amanda.

She is 100% correct in saying that her vehicle, ‘n May 2008 model, was driven to our Dealership and also that once she switched off the vehicle, it would no longer start and that we had to push the vehicle to the wash bay.  The vehicle is in need of SERIOUS MECHANICAL REPAIRS - a quote was supp**** and Amanda is YET TO APPROVE THE QUOTATION. It is however understandable why she hadn’t approved the quotation as yet -  it is going to be a costly exercise - please note that our quotation is in line with what we have observed needs to get done on this 14-year-old vehicle and within the rate charged by QUALIFIED FORD TECHNICIANS.

Accidents unfortunately happens and BB Ford Menlyn immediately took FULL RESPONSIBILITY for what happened on our premises. As with any Insurance claim, it took a few days to get the paperwork in place and a FLATBED to move the NON-RUNNING vehicle, to the panel beater.

Ford SA allows a Dealership to give to a customer a courtesy vehicle when the vehicle that is in at the Dealership FOR REPAIRS, are still UNDER WARRANTY. The Workshop Manager did indeed say that he would get her a courtesy vehicle, but unfortunately, the 5 vehicles we have to our disposal, have already been allocated to WARRANTY CLAIM cases. This was explained to her. There was no lack of trying from the Workshop Managers side but unfortunately, WARRANTY CLAIM cases gets priority.

Please note that Amanda never qualified for a courtesy vehicle. If the accident did not take place, she would have been without a vehicle once she approved the quotation and work had to get done.

The Workshop Manager did try to assist her but fell short due to reason already explained. Her job card with us is only for the accident damage repairs. We are in constant contact with the panel beater to get the vehicle fixed as we need to communicate with Amanda the way forward of either doing repairs or collecting her vehicle, on a flatbed. We are unfortunately at the mercy of an outside party but will keep on putting pressure on them to get the job done.

Reviewer Update
Good day,
In BB Ford Menlyn’s attempt to set the record straight, they omitted to discuss the fact that the model code of my vehicle is incorrect on their quote. They quoted on a vehicle part that has been discontinued and the ETA for the said part is 2022/12/31! Also, they first quoted on the part only (omitting the labour costs) which I had to remind them to quote me on. I mean, really. BB Ford Menlyn quote / piece of paper is of minor issue. My vehicle was pushed to wash bay where it got bumped badly, although the mechanical repairs was not done as yet. BB Ford Menlyn has taken responsibility in order to send my vehicle to their panel beater, 2.4 weeks ago. Please be remined that BB Ford Menlyn PROMISED ME (in an email) a courtesy car for the time my vehicle will be at their panel beater and afterwards REVOKED THEIR PROMISE when it came to that point. I have phoned Ford SA about a courtesy car who would also not assist. A courtesy car was promised under UNDER FALSE PRETENCES. I further find BB Ford Menlyn’s reply to my complaint very unpleasent as they emphasise: “serious mechanical repairs”, ”costly exercise”, “non-running vehicle”, which I find offensive and belittling. My vehicle is non-running and is in need of mechanical repairs, otherwise I would have sent my vehicle for a valet and not mechanical repairs. BB Ford Menlyn once again ignores the fact that they DO NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANY CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK out of their own, and it is a struggle to get any feedback out of them.
