Manger Emotional

Bought pair of shoes yesterday and wear them last night for class. Walked from the school parking and back. I couldn't keep the shoe on for long as the shoe cap was hurting my toes. I struggled to walk properly as the shoe was painful and couldn't wait to get home and put them back to the box. Today I took them back for a refund or exchange and the lady who assisted me said I will have to wait for the manager. I didn't understand as I have a proof of payment and she explained to me that the manger has to see the shoe. I asked her what the manager must see that she can't because I told her I had them on last night. She eventually called someone and the person on the phone said she must give me a refund. As she was processing the refund the store manager walked and she was very emotional and blatantly told me that I will not get a refund because the shoe was worn. Had I wiped the sole before returning them they are new as the one on the shelf.
