Great customer service

I went into Bata Shoes Southgate looking for 2 pairs of boots. I saw a boot I liked by the window and the price on the shelve was R499. When I went inside, I saw the same shoe but now the price was R399. I asked what exactly is the price and I was told it was R399 as the bigger boot was R499. The price tag under the shoe was also R399. I decided to take 2 pairs. When I was about to pay, the outside of the box and the system said the shoe was R499. As I had already spent more than 30 minutes in the shop, I was not prepared to either pay an extra R200 or just leave it at that because of Bata's mistake with the labelling. Mamela was assisting me and she told me that if she allows me to pay the advertised amount, she'd have to pay for the outstanding R200 from her salary. After much debate, she finally called her manager who allowed me to take the shoes at the advertised amount. I think it's a terrible policy that they have to take the money from the assistants if there is a problem with pricing but I'm glad that the issue was sorted. If Mamela hadn't called her manager, Bata would've lost a frequent customer and this would be a complaint right now.
