Barloworld Ford Bruma

My problem started in November 2016 when I was on my way to Delmas. I struck a huge pothole with my left front tyre... the tyre burst into pieces and I replaced the tyre.

On the 21st November I was on my way to Vereeniging when my vehicle , Ford Ranger3.2XLT

suddenly cut out on the freeway. Verseker towed my bakkie to the Barlow World Ford Garage in Eastgate/Brema

On the 25th November I paid for the repairs done and fetched my vehicle. Arriving home I saw that a comment was made "cannot see for unseen damage" But that was the whole reason for taking my vehicle to their workshop. My bill was in total R4843.50 but the invoice is not even made out in my name it is in the name of "ALL CRANE REPAIRS".

Everything went well driving the vehicle around in Pretoria. On the 7th December 2016 we were on our way to Durban for our works year end function. I heard a strange cracking noice in the bakkie and I stopped at a garage and opened the bonned and to my astonisment realised that the water in the water tank was boiling. We did let it cool down and filled the tank with water. From there we travelled from garage to garage to refil with wter and we also put in anti-freeze in the water.

Eventually we reached a garage called the Windmill garage about 30 km from Mooi River the following morning . The following morning we went back to Mooi river and went to a workshop. The owner had a look at my bakkies engine and agreed that it is better to load it on one of his trucks and transport it to PieterMaritburg.

Arriving at Pietermaritzburg , also a Barlowworld Ford Dealer we met with the workshop Manger, he asked us to have a seat in the waiting area. We sat there waiting for almost 2 to 3 hours. Eventually I went back to him and he said the engine was blown. My reply was I think it only might be a head gasket that was blown. I told the manager that Barlowworld has previously worked on my cooling system and I phoned Pieter the workshop foreman and he confirmed that a pressure test was done on the engine.

We decided to tow our vehicle back to Barloworld Ford Bruma, due to the fact that they previously worked on it.

I was told December is a very difficult time to do repairs because all the engineering places are closed in that time. I accepted itg and left my vehicle with them. December went by and still no call from them.

Halfway through January 2017 I phoned Barloworld and spoke to Pieter again, he was not very friendly and he said to me THE SLEEVES are damaged. I asked did they open the engin, and his reply was that they have opened the engine and that was how they saw the sleeves were damaged.

End of January I phoned and spoke to the dealer Princepal Mr Jimmy vd Linde and he assured me that somebody will phone me back. The workshop manager Nellis phoned me and I explained my dillema to him. He then said to me that they are waiting for me to give the go-ahead for replacing my bakkies engine with a new one, just the parts will cost in the vicinity of R110,000, that does not even include the labour.

Well I am even be prepared to declare it under oath that I have never received a quote whatsoever.

Mr. Nellis wanted me to instruct them to open the engine ... I thought this was done (sleeve damage)

I initually said yes but thinking about it and I preferred to go and fetche my vehicle on Saturday the 11th February.

To my astonishment, nothing was done to my vehicle nobyd has even opend the bonnet of my vehicle in two months this is at Barloworld Bruma.

At home I charged the battery (they said the bakkie does not start easy) After charging the vehicle I started the bakkie without any problem.

I still do not know what the cause of the overheating is. Not using the bakkie until I get somebody that knows what he is doing to have a look at the vehicle..

I am very dissapointed in the service, advice, treatment and total no response I got from Barloworld Bruma.

Leon Minnie

********** 225

Office ********** 0567

Email: **********
