Weeks (and counting) to activate fibre connections
All the prior complaints about it taking weeks to activate fibre lines are as bad as they seem, maybe even worse. Balwin fibre is the only fibre network available in the Balwin estates so you're in for a miserable time if they mess up, as is usually the case with unregulated monopolies.
I'm now well into my third week of waiting for my account to be activated with no communication from Balwin fibre. I've already spent 1000's of rand on mobile data just so I can connect to work, and another few hundred on phone calls trying to get someone to sort it out.
The ridiculous part is that the units are already wired and ready for service - all that should be left is Balwin to provision an account, but that seems like such a massive undertaking. My neighbours tell me that in the good ol' days, the accounts were provisioned within a day, so something has changed. We can't know what that is because there is zero communication ****erally zero) from Balwin. It seems like gross incompetence to me.
It's 2021, we work and study from home, and a place without an internet connection just won't cut it.
