Awerbuchs unfortunate change

In the old days, Awerbuchs always had the best price or was at least very competitive. Always had and still have good quality products. Saturday though, I wanted to purchase, amongst other things, two pairs of overalls on which Awerbuchs were R45 per pair more expensive than the local coop. I asked the salesman if he was going to help with price, he said no. After I told him that this is not the way Awerbuchs of the past worked, he went to get his manager. I showed her proof of the other price. She just said that she cannot give discount. The reason for the complaint- if this lady just put in more effort, going to a computer and looked up her pricing, I might have had settled for the higher price (or had a quality discussion with me), but bluntly “no” from her side made this customer feel unimportant and not appreciated. I left without the two overalls (where a R10 discount would have been sufficient- not a price match required), 2 pairs of safety shoes, women underwear and a Jeep shirt. Awerbuchs- please try to determine the NEED of the customer and treat them not feeling like ****.
