NO RESPECT FOR THE GRIEVING FAMILY OR THE DECEASED

NO RESPECT FOR THE GRIEVING FAMILY OR THE DECEASED.. I had reason to make connection with AVBOB Cape Town as my father passed away. He had a policy with Avbob so I called them.. Firstly they said they will be there when they could. I called again an hour or two later to make sure they were on route. I was told they had to make a stop in Bonteheuvel first then to me. They arrived at 18:30 - 4.5 hours after I called. There were a few stairs to which the two gentleman from AVBOB looked at me and said .. "Oh there are stairs, can we just carry the body out to the pavement and put him on the trolly" and then asked me how much he weighed!. Well we said no as we had two extra people to help. And the thought of carrying my dad out of the flat for all to see was for me a bit degrading as he would be wrapped in a plastic type ground sheet - and being Friday evening there where tennants of the building arriving home and in and out. Next they took the trolly in and my family assited them to put my dad on the trolley and take it gently down the stairs. On arriving at the Avbob vehicle my husband saw a small item wrapped in plastic and the Avbob staff member just pushed it roughly out the way so the trolley could be put in the van.. My husband asked what that was that wasmoved to one side - he was told it was a small child that they had just collected in Bonteheuvel who had been ill for a while - well he was shocked to the core the matter of fact way this child was treated.. There were no restraints to keep the corpse from rolling around in the vehicle.. I can only pray that my dad was treated with respect when he arrived at their premises. I also took my dad clothing for them to put him in,, my next visit to the parlour... the lady helping me asked if I was still going to bring his clothing - I looked at her in a bit of disbelief - and said I had already brought it to them?. And then enquired where it was - she disappeared behind a door - brought out the bag and asked if this was his clothing I had brought - I acknowledged it was and was shocked it was not yet on him - I suppose it will remain a mystery if he ever go to wear them... I did relay this to the lady who took all our details on our first visit - but for now I do not think this is a funeral home I would recommend and hope I don’t end up there.
