I Buried my husband with loans because of the *********** AVBOB customer service of Umbilo branch

My name is Nontobeko Zuma, and after a protracted battle with cancer, I lost my spouse on November 13, 2023. On November 14th, I went to the AVBOB Umbilo branch in Durban to submit my claim. The person who received it, Hlengiwe Mhlongo, had a terrible attitude and showed no empathy for my situation; she even suggested that I drive to the 320 branch in Durban because one of the documents needed to process a claim didn't have a bank statement. Fast forward to the next day: the claim was submitted to the Umbilo branch, and they promised to wait for the payout, which could take up to 48 hours for the cash to appear on my account, so I decided to call back on Thursday, the 16th, since I was busy making funeral arrangements. When I did, I was informed that my claims documents had not yet been uploaded to the system and that I would have to wait another 48 hours for them to be reviewed. Keep in mind that it is Thursday afternoon, and the coffin and mortuary are still unpaid. I was a disgruntled widow who had no alternative but to start borrowing money and obtaining loans in order to bury my husband. On Friday afternoon, the body is anticipated to leave the mortuary in a coffin and be transported to the family home. I waited on Friday for a response and I was a disgruntled widow who had no alternative but to start borrowing money and obtaining loans in order to bury my husband. On Friday afternoon, the body is anticipated to leave the mortuary in a coffin and be transported to the family home. I am still upset about what AVBOB society I trusted, put me through. I waited for communication on Friday and was still unhelped. On Saturday, while I was sitting at the burial site and watching my husband's grave, I received one payment out of two. The other payment came from my husband's policy and was paid out earlier this week after days of the burial.

I spoke with Lungi, the manager of Hlengiwe Mhlongo, and both of them were unhelpful in the circumstance. We appreciate the claims lady at the Scottsburg branch; she was really understanding and helpful, and she also gave us respect. She also tried to resolve the situation where I was worn out from interacting with the two women above by calling the Umbilo branch and spoke with claims.
