AVBOB Sasolburg

If I could rate AVBOB Sasolburg a 0, I definitely would. My grandmother passed away on the 3rd of October 2022.

They provided us with a death certificate. Only later when going to court we realised that the document is incorrect as it stated that she was married and not widowed like it should have.

This could be because AVBOB could have made a mistake back in 1996 when my grandfather passed away, because my grandmother's details were supposed to be changed to widow at home affairs back in 1996. We were never informed that it was the family's responsibility to change that. Which means that our family has to go to home affairs head office to rectify the mistake.

We held a memorial for my grandmother on Monday (10th of October 2022). When we called to enquire if we could fetch the ashes of our beloved grandmother, we were told that it is not yet ready for collection as her cremation will happen on Wednesday... Wednesday when? Today (12th of October)? Next week? Next year?

In addition, they firstly printed the funeral pamphlets incorrectly. The date of birth and date of death was incorrect... My aunt went to go check on the funeral brochures (luckily they didn't print all of them), and she had them fix it.

But according to a card we received from AVBOB, "Knowing that you had a choice, we thank you for entrusting us with your loved one.

It is a privilege to be selected to serve your family.

It is our promise that your loved one will be cared for as if they were a member of our own family.

Riaan and Personnel AVBOB Sasolburg"

What is this? Treating someone like family? 9 days after my grandmother's death, she's still in a morgue and services are completed incorrectly? So in other words it's okay for a business to let a family that lost a loved one 26 years later run up and down and have an extended waiting period?
