AVBOB bad service nearly causes me to keel over and join my husband!

My husband passed away Thursday 31 August 2017.I have been a policy holder for quite some time and informed the ambulance to contact them to collect my husband’s body.I informed the AVBOB staff members that I wanted his clothes and a blanket back. I was informed that we could only come into the offices the next week on Monday. My daughters and I had a 10h00 o'clock appointment at the Horison offices on Monday 4 September. Upon arrival we were told that we had to wait due to the consultant being busy (acceptable wait of 15 minutes). When the consultant met with us he was totally unprepared for the meeting with no examples of flower arrangements, frames or booklets for the funeral. We were not offered any choices of urns for his ashes. We asked for the death certificate in order for me to start procedures and was informed that they still have not received it ( I called them several times on Friday to enquire about the death certificate. I was eventually able to collect the certificate until Friday 8 September in the late afternoon, the B11663 form was only sent to me on Tuesday the 12th of September. The memorial service was arranged for Thursday the 7th of September and the only thing they ended up doing for us was printing the booklets, my daughter did the design from a template received from them. The booklets were shocking and fell apart as it was not bound together or stapled and the price was R 1735.00 for the 100 booklets! One would expect a decent quality for that price. I was so disgusted with the service and attitude that I asked them not to be present at the memorial service. I received an invoice on the 6th which was incorrect and reflected costs that they were not entitled too, I sent a mail querying the invoice and was told it would be redone. I received the "corrected" invoice that I am still disputing and mailed them again to request a detailed invoice . Three follow up emails further and I am still to receive the corrected invoice. Every time I inquire about it I am told that the consultant is waiting for his manager to respond or head office to respond. Till today I have not signed an invoice but received an sms stating that the claim was settled ?? My husband was cremated without us being given a date for the cremation and when I phoned to find out when the cremation would be I was told to collect his ashes on Friday 15 September as he was already cremated! I asked again for his clothes that he wore on the day of his passing and was informed that it was not ready to be returned to me and it is now 19 September and I can't get any closure on this case. I don’t even know if his death notification was published as we received no information from them regarding this matter.

It is disgusting that in a time of mourning any family has to go through any of this with unprofessional, ************* and downright unsympathetic service.

Their slogan of We are here for You is utter *******!
