Trying to cancel subscription after end of contrac

I sent an email to autopage on 5 November 2015 that I want to stop my subscription with them, as I am out of the country, March they let me know I am in arrears, I told them about my mail. The person, a Mr. Adonis, said he couldn't find it, so I forwarded him that mail. Haven't heard from him, thought it was ok, got an sms from VVM debt Collectors today, I have to pay in excess of R2000 end of this month? What the hell? How difficult can it be? And why only wait till now to let me know there is a problem, and this short notice? Are we dogs now, is that how people should be treated?
