Thinking of joining the Automobile Association? Why bother?

I have been a member of the AA for over 35 years and have used their services maybe 15 in total, however because I have used them 5 times this year, 3 times to charge my car battery which took them a maximum of about 10 minutes, they tell me that according to their "fair use policy" I must now pay for any additional call out. The fact that they now also say your insurance company must arrange for the towing in the case of a breakdown or accident, honestly what is the use of joining them at about R1 000.00 a year?
