Tools ****** from my boot during AA tow

In August 2026 I had asked for AA assistance with a breakdown. It was a Friday evening so the vehicle was towed to our residential address. The vehicle was safely stored in our locked property over the weekend and then another driver towed it to the mechanic on Monday morning. On arrival, the mechanic notified us that the specialist lock nut for the mag wheels, and all of my other tools were missing from the boot. I flagged this with the AA, which has spent the last two months investigating. Despite inconsistencies and inaccuracies in the drivers' statements and their failure to follow standard operating procedures about inspections and photographs, the AA legal department has now notified me that they will not pay the claim for the loss of the tools because the onus is on me to prove that my tools were in the boot before the tows. As a client of about 30 years, I feel its an act of bad faith, especially since it would not have occurred to me to photograph the tools and spare wheel on the roadside lest they be ****** during the towing process. I'm sharing this as a warning that even if you follow procedure and remove all valuables from your vehicle, items that you cannot remove like tools and spare tyres may not be safe when the AA is in charge of the vehicle, and if a driver or someone else *****s these items while the car is in transit, they will not take responsibility.

NO ACCOUNTABILITY AND NO COMMUNICATION EVEN AFTER SEVERAL CALLS AND EMAILS

I am writing this to warn consumers about a billing nightmare and lack of accountability involving Matrix, the Automobile Association (AA), and Dotsure Insurance. I recently discovered that my tracking device was completely unserviceable and outdated. Shockingly, Matrix has no internal system to monitor whether a client's tracker is actually functioning or obsolete. Instead of taking responsibility for providing a dead service, they blamed me for not manually checking the device. Because of this total failure and shift of blame, I immediately cancelled the contract. Yet, despite the cancellation, the billing has not stopped. When trying to get answers, I hit a wall of finger-pointing: • FNB banking records prove that Dotsure is the company actively debiting my cash. • Matrix states in writing that the AA is the party responsible for the account and billing. Neither AA nor Dotsure wants to take ownership of this mess. One is taking the money, the other is supposedly managing the profile, and both are ignoring the fact that the service was cancelled because the device was useless. Check your bank statements and your tracking devices carefully. Matrix will let a dead device sit in your car without warning you, and when you cancel, their billing partners will keep dipping into your account. This matter is now being escalated directly to the National Financial Ombud Scheme (NFO)

AA and Ford SA

Don’t get fooled about the name, AA 30 years ago was brilliant. Now I can guarantee every Ford owner, they will fail you as they failed me. Premium brand purchase, with horrible, devastating service from Both Ford SA and the AA. No accountability and they fix everything with cheap corporate BS. Run, Run, Run, and don’t get fooled by Ford SA selling you premium backup. The AA will fail. Before you buy the Ford, ask any dealer about complaints against the AA. You will hear horrific failures by the AA and Ford covers it all up.

FORD STRANDED 6 hours due to AA incompetence

What a circus. Ford well done for choosing the worst company in SA to manage your warranty emergencies. You lost me as a client. If you ever need to do business with these clowns, run. Run far. They are not worth it. Well done to Andre, Mr Sarcastic!

AA do your self a favor do not be a member

My daughter had a car break down next to the road with one of my cars and I was in formed that due to the fact that I myself was not present that they can not tow the Car in or assist. So I only found out after 45 min when I phoned to find out where the AA are that the AA app does not arrange for a tow in and when I ask why I was informed that apprently you need to phone and make a booking. So my daughter was left alone with no help and I was 100km away so had to make emergency arrangements to get her to safety. So if you or a family member are in trouble the AA is the last organization that will come to your aid. I canceled my membership of 20 years immediately. Thank you for taking my money and giving no service the welcome to the New ANC South Africa where you pay and get nothing in return.

Money Taken WIthout Consent

I wish to draw your attention to the fact that the organization has in 2 different months made a debit order to my account after I paid the with an EFT, because my debit order did not go through. The say it is part of their policy. I am threatening to leave them because of their practices. The Automobile association should refund the money immediately, but they take 2 weeks to pay out. I have a tight budget like most other people on this and other sites.

Aaron Nelson is the best

I would like to give a special appreciation to Aaron Nelson from AA Insurance Supermarket for his excellent service. He has been a great help with my car insurance premiums and is always very helpful, eager to assist, and attentive to his clients’ needs. His professionalism and willingness to go the extra mile truly stand out. AA Insurance Supermarket and his supervisor made a great decision in having him as part of their team.
