Magicians

On Thursday 19 Jan 2017 i found myself stuck on the N1S Centurion just past the N14 onramp when traffic was just starting to pick-up, luckily by God's grace we didn't cause an accident. I called AA for roadside assist and was told there is no active policy under my ID number, after being given some attitude by the person who was meant to reassure and keep me calm. I ran out of airtime and got cut-off before i got transferred to whoever was to investigate why no policy was appearing on my ID number and sadly i didn't get a call back. I had to make other arrangements to get help as our main priority was to get out of the highway still safe and get to registrations on time. I wonder what would've happened to my car if i was involved in an accident.

Background:

I received an sms on 05 January 2017 notifying me that my debit was not paid. I couldn't get through to the number i was told to contact at that time and on saturday also (it seems office hours only applies). On Monday i managed to get through and the guy i spoke to said he could see there's an unpaid debit but i can only settle it with accounts and he is general enquiries. He failed putting me through to them as they were busy and then told me they'll call me back after he confirmed my contact details.

The call never came so on the 11th i sent an email to the guy who signed me up as he was previously very helpful when i had a problem with the tracking device, i asked if he could get someone to assist me or if he could resend a debit command but i didn't get a response ( i thought he's still on holidays).

This morning, I received a notification from my bank about a debit to AA, full amount.

So as i did not have a policy 2 days back I'm wondering what the money is for...

Hi Livhuwani

We have received feedback from the respective departments, firstly we would like to apologise for the way the agent handled your matter on the 19th January. This has been addressed and the necessary steps have been taken. Unfortunately due to the fact that your account was in arrears the agent was unable to pick up your details on the system.

With regards to your returned debit order and your email sent on the 11th January. The debit order was resubmitted to your bank, as requested by you, on the 19th January, and was received by us on the 20th January. Your policy is again in force and you are able to utilise the respective benefits going forwards.

If there is anything else that we can assist with, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

The Insurance Driven by the AA team

Dear insurance driven by AA team,

I find your response insultive as i had to make alternate arrangements on the 19th so sorry is not enough. My account was in arrears and so i didn't have a policy? And how come the guy i spoke with picked up my policy...i will not accept that ur agent couldn't pick my details up. And what happened to the call back i was supposed to get from accounts?

I gracefully handled being told i don't have a policy...and therefore made calls that costed me like someone who does not have a policy.

Nobody communicated with me about any suspension of my policy or to acknowledge that you have recived my communication and therefore you will redebit my account again, so as far as i am concerned, the redebit is ******* as it occured after i was denied of your services.

So i will consider your apology only after i receive communication in writing of the matter, with assurance that it will never happen again. And a refund of my money from the 1st until the 20th (which is less than what it costed me on the 19th...yup, i calculated), because according to you i was not covered as my account was not paid right?

If you can't do that, let me know so i can resume getting qoutes and speak with my legal team.
