Automobile Association, roadside "assistance"

On Friday I ran out fuel (stupid mistake I know) there is a filling station 400m away from my destination and I figured I would make. Well I didn't I in fact started running out of fuel while I was still on the highway. I managed to splutter my way to the top of the Edenvale off-ramp to call for help. First it took about 20-30 mins for their app to pick up my location. I then logged the call as an emergency (I was at the top of the off-ramp and while I was in the emergency lane, well whats left of it) people were still flying up the off-ramp. within (probably) 30 seconds of logging the call I received a message saying help was on the way. Well it never arrived, I called them after about 45 mins to find out what was going to be met with "sir the technician has been dispatched and will be there shortly" basically the exact same thing I was told when I logged the call, long story short, I called again and after about 1.5 hours of waiting (since I logged the call) I took a long walk to the nearest garage got fuel and headed back to my car. when I got back (by now roughly 2hrs had past) the "technician" STILL hadn't pitched. I headed to my destination, finished what I had to do and received a call (on my way back) to say the technician is almost there how will he spot me. Needless to say I told them to get lost and to forget about ever contact me to renew this stupid membership because as far as I can tell it is actually a huge waste of money (I may as well have piled it up in a heap on the floor and set fire to it, at least I would've received something, even if it is just heat and smoke, it beats sitting on the side of the road waiting for someone who isn't coming). This morning I received a message saying my case has been successfully completed. HUH!? My guess is whoever I spoke to last didn't bother listening to anything I said and they' seem to have recorded this as a successful claim (it wasn't it was the EXACT OPPOSITE of that). I cancelled my previous membership because of this and you guys have just shown me that it was the right thing to do and I should never have second guessed myself. In fact if I just looked here before making that decision I could actually have saved myself a fair bit of time and money.
