All paid up but no place to go
Every year I buy AA subscriptions for our entire family. Cash up front for the entire year. For our daughters I purchase the super-duper benefit package as I'm concerned about their safety.
The FIRST time any of us had to use AA this year was when my daughter was in an accident on Friday. She was turning right, as were many cars behind her and a Ram Courier van plowed into the lot of them. Her car's back axle was broken and was not drivable.
Her coverage includes towing but when she called AA she was told that there was nothing they could do for her as her account was in arrears. It was at the end of business hours and there was no one to appeal to. She was left stranded far from home with little money and no credit card.
When I called this week I was told that they had discovered their mistake and all was in order. TOO LATE, I cried, and asked that someone senior get back to me within the day to explain and tell me how we would be compensated.
Of course that call has never come in...
After spending close to R5000 for our membership, which I have had since the 1990's, I will no longer be supporting AA. EVER!
