AA Advantage plus almost costed me my life, while they report great revenue from my premium
I have an AA Advantage plus membership. I had an incident where I needed roadside assistance late in the day at around 4pm when my car wouldn’t move in the middle of a farming area. Being a young female in SA with a high rate of GBV and hijackings, I knew I needed to act swiftly in getting help. I made contact with AA for roadside assistance, 2 hours later and almost multiple phone calls from me given that they never called to give any updates, I still had no one dispatched to tow my vehicle after numerous calls on my side and false communication of my case being escalated. I had to source an alternative way to get me and my car home almost 3 hours after logging my call with no AA service. I paid for an annual membership but got treated like they were making me a favour. On investigating and admitting to fault, they offered R75 off my AA armed response membership.R75 for all the trauma and suffering, airtime and petrol to get myself to a place of safety.
