Auto-Pedigree is a *******/*****/****

The way Auto Pedigree treat its clients is just appalling. The experience that we got from the Polokwane branch wouldn't be what i would want any other South African to go through, its the worst dealer ship i have ever come across

On Friday the 26th of April 2019 my mother went to a Auto Pedigree branch in Polokwane, she went window shopping for a car, she saw a Chevrolet Utility that she liked, she dint check it out thoroughly because she was "just" window shopping, the car sales man who was with her told her that the car's odometer was on 50000KM and my mother got an interest immediately in the car since it was also in great shape on the "outside" just by looking from a distance. Then because she dint have her bank statements and everything she was told to get them and come back. She went back with all the necessary documents on Monday on the 29/04/2019 and handed them over for them to check if she qualifies with the banks to be financed.

She got a call from the garage on Tuesday morning 30/04/2019 saying that she has qualified and she should come sign the contract and pick up the car. When she got to the garage she dint find the car there and they told her that the car went out for testing, they then gave her the contract to sign, bare in mind "THEY NEVER TOOK HER THROUGH THE CAR, TO SHOW HER ANY SCRATCHES, DEFECTS OR WHATS WORKING/NOT WORKING ON THE CAR" they just gave her the contract to sign. She is a 60 years old woman and this is her first car, so she dint know anything about buying cars and Auto Pedigree took advantage of that, nothing was explained to her at all before signing the contract

The car then came back, the contract was signed and they gave her the car keys and papers, as she was going to the car, the sales man's mind/memory suddenly starts working and he tells my Mom that he dint check correctly the car's odometer is on 93000KM, bare in mind my Mother signed a contract under the impression that the distance traveled by the car was 50000KM. Ok Auto Pedigree might say that she as the buyer is responsible for checking and confirming that the car was really on 50000KM, which is nonsense because when going to buy something that's valuable like a car the sales man/lady should know his/her story of what he/she is selling, this just proves that Auto Pedigree's workers are ***********. Another thing is why would she only be told that the car was on 93000KM right after signing the contract?

Ok my mother was still willing to take the car, she was happy as its her first car, she drove off with the car, bare in mind that even at this point they never took her around the car to show her any of the DEFECTS(scratches, if the tires are in good condition, or any other things that they should show her when buying a car). On her way home she felt that something was not right with the car, but she thought maybe because she is not used to the car yet, she got home i then drove the car around just to test it. There were so many problems with the car.

1. The hooter wasn't working, which they dint bother telling her, and if they dint know as the garage, it again proves their incompetency 2. The shocks were in terrible condition of which they(Auto-Pedigree) "failed" to notice 3. The headlights were terrible, you could barely see at night 4. The steering wheel was making an aggressive sound when turning 5. The car needed wheel alignment 6. The clutch was in terrible condition, sometimes it failed to change gears, putting the car in reverse was even worse, you had to sweat first just before you can reverse 7. The canopy door is a mission to open 8. There car had scratches that were hidden by the canopy, we only saw the scratches when we took off the canopy, and its that type of a canopy that doesn't have windows, being that type of a canopy, my mother dint want it, while in the garage she told them to keep the canopy and that she will buy herself a canopy that has windows. They persuaded her to take the canopy saying that its "FREE" and she can even cut open spaces and put windows on the same canopy "which is cheaper than buying a new one", only to find out that they knew that the canopy is hiding miserable scratches and bumps that she wouldn't like if she saw them

It gat me wondering if Auto Pedigree pays this testing stations to approve their cars?? because they claimed that the reason the car wasn't there when my Mom got to the garage its because it was out for testing, or they **** and told us they are testing it

My Mother then went back on Saturday 04/05/2019 (the fourth day after buying the car) and told them that she doesn't want the car anymore, the sales man told her to come back on Monday as the manager is not working during the weekend and they will swap it for a brand new Nissan NP200 on Monday. Comes Monday she goes back, the "VERY RUDE" branch manager tells her that there is no swap that's going to happen, the only thing they can do is to fix the car and give it back to her, my Mother then insisted that she doesn't want the car anymore since a lot of things were undisclosed, and this was before the cool off period expires, the branch manager then said "IF YOU DON'T WANT THE CAR ITS FINE DON'T PAY YOUR INSTALLMENT AND THE BANK WILL COME TO REPOSES IT AT YOUR HOUSE, WE WONT TAKE IT AS THE BANK HAS ALREADY PAID FOR IT". This is how Auto Pedigree talks to its customers, as soon as you sign a contract they don't care anymore, as long as they got their money and they are happy, its ZERO ****S given about the client once he/she signs the contract,

It came to my attention that Auto Pedigree breached the CPA(Consumer Protection Act) which protects consumers as below

******************************* "If you have purchased as the result of a direct marketing, you can cancel the deal within 5 days. If you were not allowed to inspect the vehicle fully before purchase, that period extends to 10 days"

The CPA provides that all goods purchased must comply with the following requirements:

• Safe, of good quality, in good working order and free from any defects; • Reasonably suitable for the purpose for which they are generally intended; and • Will be usable and durable for a reasonable period of time, having regard to the use they would normally be put to.

Should the car not meet these requirements, you have the right to return it (within six months after the purchase) and can insist to:

• Have the car repaired; • Have the car replaced; or • Obtain a full refund of the purchase price. ***********************************************************

So from the above it shows that Auto Pedigree doesn't care about the Consumer rights as my mother went back before the 5 days as speculated by the Consumer Protection Act, and our period can even extend to 10 days as she wasn't allowed to inspect the car before they told her to sign the contract

The CPA also states that all goods purchased must be "Safe and of good quality". Clearly Auto-Pedigree doesn't care if you get into an accident and die or not, as long as they have their money they are well off because they sold a car with faulty/damaged breaks, clutch, shocks, horn, steering, and this are the only things we know of at the moment

I wouldn't recommend anyone to go to any Auto Pedigree Dealership to purchase a car, if Auto Pedigree is the only Car dealership in your area, consider going to a different Province to purchase a car if needs be. They are terrible and they prey on customers who do not know thier rights
