************ Audi Dealership
Hi,
It has been a frustrating experience that I have still not resolved. I want to make sure that no one else has to go through this when purchasing a premier car brand like Audi.
I thought Audi was a company of good repute, strong brand values and morals but I will not be buying an Audi again due to my experience with them and Audi Durban.
I purchased a new Audi S3 and took delivery of the car in January 2015. After my second service I enquired about extending my motor plan and discovered that Audi had started my Freeway Plan in July of 2014. This cut me short of 6 months of maintenance plan from when I took delivery. It clearly states on Audi's policy that the Freeway is to start when the customer takes delivery of the car.
I enquired with the dealer to get this resolved thinking he could just update the system and correct the error which he agreed to do. At my 4th service I discovered that this was not done. I then escalated to the manager who took 4 months to pull my deal files, review the documentation and come up with a solution. I had to sign some paperwork and it would be done. At my next service I discover that he has only extended my Service plan which effectively means that I am 6 months shy on maintenance cover and warranty cover (This is not what I paid for when I bought the car). 1 year later I am still trying to get this resolved.
Apart from the direct cost that can be attributed to shortening the Freeway plan by 6 months, I have had the problem with trade-ins. Turns out dealers value the car when the motor plan started and it means me fighting with them, showing them my NATIS doc, trying to bargain and puts me on the backfoot. So I will not be able to get fair value for my car when I trade it in until this matter is resolved. Actually I may never get fair value if they do correct this on the system instead of extending my plan.
The disappointing thing is that I love the car but all this just gives me a headache. It was completely ************ of the Audi Dealer to sell this car without disclosing the fact that the motor plan had been started 6 months earlier. And the dealers attitude was terrible and left me feeling nothing but irate.
So what Audi says in their terms and conditions does not really have weight. Worst of all is that Audi South Africa was toothless in helping me to resolve this matter. It seems clear cut to me but I got very little help as I am still battling.
I will be staying away from Audi Durban in the future (where I bought the car) . Audi cars are beautiful but this headache left a bad taste in my mouth. I may be tempted for an RS3 though just for the love of the car. When you sign for your car, checking the start date of the maintenance plan is not one of the things you look at. Should we now have to check the start date of vehicle motor plans before we buy them?
