Rivonia Audi - sadly no light @ the end of the tunnel
Over a month a half ago we had booked an Audi A1 for regular service under the maintenance plan. Not a major service - 85k kms service. The very day we got the car back there was an oil smell permutating from the engine bay. Noticed a subtle noise which quickly turned into a louder noise. This was characteristic of clutch issues as it would slip as revving in 5th gear and the sound would get better then worse as you engage and disengage the clutch. We took the car to Fourways but they could not book the car for most of the week while Rivonia said they can book it on Monday. Had to drop the car and then the long and painful wait begun. What we found is the gearbox casing broke due to a loose part from inside. So they were first undecided what parts they need to replace. They are obviously looking for the cheapest way for them since it is a warranty claim. I have no issues with that. What I do have a problem with is the lack of communication or commitment from them. Not once did we get a call to keep us in the loop. It is always us chasing and then promised to be contacted with that promise never kept to. A month and a bit later and the parts have not arrived from Germany. Appearantly some have and they waiting for some. Throughout this time we have explained to Audi that this incident is costing us more money than they can imagine. We are having to use Uber and Taxify to get to work & back. Didn't seem to bother anyone. Told them we missed a holiday and no concern yet. When asked for a courtesy car or hired car, we are told even though the car is under warranty and this is a warranty claim, the car has too much mileage for them to help with a vehicle, either from their floor or a hired car. I really do not understand this logic.
I am utterly disappointed with the service or should I say lack of, in this painful experience. Looks like another long weekend will come and go and we will be forced to cancel further plans.
