Replace Brakes

My vehicle is on 103 000kms at the moment and I have to get the brakes, front and back replaced. I am very upset as my car is just outside the 100 000kms service plan.My concern comes because my car just had its last service less than 10 000kms ago. Surely if the brakes was near its end they should have replaced it or informed me or am I not speaking under correction. Please advise on this matter as I am really upset regarding this matter.
