Poor service after breakdown
On 08/06/17 I had my vehicle (Audi A3 1.6TDi) at Audi Centurion for its 90 000km service. One of the snags I listed on the vehicle was that on a cold morning it battles to start. Audi said they'll check the glow plugs. After getting the vehicle back from the service the problem seemed to be fixed, although the service provider said everything checked out with the glow plug test and they didn't have to replace anything. About 2 weeks ago the same thing started happening again and then on 29/08/17, about 4000kms later, the orange glow plug light stayed on and flashing after start and a message was displayed that the automatic stop/start function was disabled. I went straight to Audi Centurion with the vehicle and they did a diagnostic test and booked the vehicle for 01/09/17 to get it fixed. The service advisor in the meantime ensured me (after I asked him multiple times about this) that it is perfectly safe to drive the vehicle like this until 01/09/17. The next day, 30/08/17, the vehicle shuddered suddenly and displayed a gearbox malfunction message, now only selecting gears 2, 4 and 6. I stopped in the nearest parking lot which was Forest Hill Mall and called Audi Centurion who in turn arranged for roadside assistance. Roadside assistance, after I explained all the details to the agent, then sent someone with a battery pack to jump start my vehicle. This meant that I has to wait for an hour for something I specifically told them was not the issue. Then a tow truck had to be arranged and in the end my vehicle only arrived at Audi Centurion just before 6pm (the trouble started at 13:30 already) I have to add that the roadside assistance guys were very friendly and helpful although they were sent there with the wrong information. This morning I had to phone the dealership to find out what's happening with my vehicle and I only got a call back after 11am, telling me they are still running diagnostics. Meanwhile I am sitting at home without any means to get around and this after the Audi Freeway plan stipulates that I will get a rental car while mine is being worked on. According to the call center agent, I need to take this up with the dealership where my car is booked in. I then phoned Audi Centurion again, just to get told that they cannot help me at this stage and first need to determine what is wrong with my vehicle and how long the repairs are going to take... Does it really matter how long it will take? Does this really determine if you want to give me a rental car to use while mine, which is still covered under the freeway plan, is broken? I've been without a vehicle for the entire day now and by the sound of it I will be until mine is fixed (which according to the dealer can take up to a month). Is this really how Audi honors their freeway plan agreement? I don't think it should matter how long my vehicle is in for repairs, what matters is that it is in for repairs while covered under the freeway plan and I am now without transport and in need of a rental. This really is appalling service from a respected brand and I am really disappointed in the seemingly lack of willingness to provide any assistance in this regard. I will again stress that the roadside assistance guys were great, but everything before and after that was of a really poor standard.
