No Support from Audi South Africa - Don't buy an Audi

I'm not one to easily complain, but my recent experience with Audi N1 City branch Cape Town and Audi South Africa, has left me absolutely shocked at the poor service and customer care that Audi offers. Some background - I drive an Audi A1 Sportback in excellent condition - I've had it for 5 years, with a full service history and no issues to date. On the 30 September 2017 my warranty ended, with my car only having 63000 km on the clock and no historic issues, I decided there was no need to extend the warranty. One month and 7 days later, the electronics in my steering wheel went - my car still ran perfectly, I just couldn't use the mechanics on my steering wheel. I booked it into Audi N1 City for it to be repaired on the 15 November 2017. The original quote was R9300. When I went to pay for the repair, they tried to charge me R14k. After refusing, they matched my quote. On my drive home from collecting my vehicle after the repair, less than 100km, my automatic gear switch showed the emergency sign and I lost all use of my gears. (It's an automatic and the gear paddles are on the steering wheel that they were working on). It took me 4 phone calls and 10 hours to finally get hold of someone at N1 City to tell them what had happened. They told me to get my vehicle to them. I had to arrange my own tow. Audi N1 city did a diagnosis and found that the 2 incidents were not related and now want to charge me R19k to fix. I did my own independent diagnosis, which confirmed that the 2 events had to be connected. I escalated the issue to Audi South Africa - who within 48 hours told me that they had contacted the dealership. The dealership gave them the same story. And that because it is out of warranty, they can do nothing to help me! Audi South Africa - what is the point of making a complaint to you, if you will not do your own independent investigation of the complaint - obviously the dealership will not want to take responsibility and will feed you the same story. Funny thing is, I was going to trade my car for an A3 next year. Fat chance now. I will never EVER drive another Audi and will make sure to tell my story to as many people that will listen. Thanks for nothing Audi.
