Faulty Mechatronic Units Audi Q5

Warning Audi Faulty Mechatronic Units A work colleague and myself (Allen Lennard ********** 618) both bought new Audi’s in 2011. I bought an Audi Q5 and my colleague an Audi A1. Both our cars have reported faulty mechatronic units during the month of July 2017, both vehicles have not yet reached 80,000 km yet. It is widely reported that Audi VW Australia recalled thousands of vehicles that were affected with this problem with the DSG transmission. But here in South Africa it seems that Audi expect the consumer to pay for this defective unit once your car is out of warranty. Audi does seem to have a sort of a goodwill policy whereby they will cover 70% of the part and labour cost in certain instances. Both my colleague and I requested that the dealership request from Audi factory that this part be replaced by the factory at no cost. We were both declined, and told that our cars were out of warranty. My colleague reported his fault on this facebook page on the 26 July 2017 and Audi have just approved a goodwill repair on his A1 where they will cover 70% of all his costs to replace his faulty unit. I reported my fault to Audi customer care telephonically on the 02 August 2017 (I also referred them to my colleagues complaint, i gave his registration number and asked that that take into account that the 2 Audis bought by people from my workplace, in the same year now both have the same faulty unit). They got back to me on the 4 August 2017, stating that they would not apply their goodwill policy in my case, they stated that they honoured their warranty. They also stated that overseas recalls are not applicable to their policies. It appears that Audi will only approve goodwill repairs when you complain on social media. When I bought the vehicle, I thought I was buying a premium brand car from a reputable company and I would be happy with it for many years. Surely a widely reported faulty unit would deserve a free replacement within reason, 79000km in 6 years is definitely not excessive mileage.

A major part of this complaint is that 2 people from the same work place bought Audi vehicles in the same year, both had mechatronic failures out of warranty in the same month (What are the chances of that happening?). Audi has agreed to cover 70% of the cost of Audi A1 who’s owner complained via facebook. Audi rejected my claim for the same faulty unit when I complained via your customer care centre, even after requesting that both complaints be looked at together. I have asked Audi on their facebook page via my wifes facebook account to explain the logic as to why my claim was rejected and the other claim approved.

They have not answered my question.
