Engine problems

I have a 2012 Audi A4, with 70 000km on the clock. The engine packed up a month ago. I have been told this is a common manufacturing flaw in these models. When my car went it to be fixed there were 5 others with the same issue. In the USA and UK i believe there was a recall on these cars. How can cars with 50 000-70 000km have their engines pack up. Its not acceptable that Audi is doing nothing to assist. I'd like some feedback on this ASAP.
