Don't buy extended Service or Motor Plans from Bidvest McCarthy Audi Menlyn
When I bought my car from VW Arcadia I took out a Service Plan until 90 000 KM. About a year back I realized that the service plan was coming to an end and many people advised that I should try to extend it, so that I could save money because paying for services cash would cost a lot. I came across Bidvest McCarthy VW Menlyn on the internet and queried about their extension plans. I was assisted by a lady called Cathy Patterson but she was from Bidvest McCarthy Audi Menlyn division and when I asked if that would be a problem she said no.
Cathy quoted me and advised that I have to pay cash or in 3 months before the current service plan came to an end. I agreed to the 3 month payment plan and she quoted me R10 166 / 3 = R3 388.66 per month for 3 months without discount. After making my final payment 3 months later I realized that I never queried about the discount mentioned for VW vehicles in the initial emails that were received. I then queried if I qualify to which Cathy rep**** that it only applies to customers doing an extended Motor Plan but she would confirm and get back to me. She did get back to me and advised that I could receive a 3% discount which meant the cost would be R3 083.70 per month for 3 months but due to the fact that I've paid up already she will arrange a refund and I did receive the refund later.
Everything was completed and a couple of months later it was time to use my extended service plan for the first time at 105 000 KM which only cost approximately R1300. I then decided to review my quotes and everything again and realized that this didn't seem right because my extension is only until 120 000 KM which meant that the next service would be my last and when comparing to previous services the most I ever paid was R7 920.39 for my 60 000 KM service. If you now add the R1300 to R 7920.39 the total works out to R9 220.39 which is still leas than the R3 083.70 * 3 months = R9 861.02 for which I paid for the extension.
I then decided to call Cathy to query this to understand why I am paying so much for the extension when I thought that the extension should save me some money. I called and was advised that they are busy and they can take my number and get back to me. I waited and no one called and eventually someone advised that Cathy no longer works there and they would get someone to contact me. Again no one called and this happened a few times for about 3 weeks until finally I said I'm not waiting for someone to call and a lady by the name of Phenyo at least decided to help me where she could.
I explained the situation to Phenyo and after about another week I received feedback but also during this time Phenyo got me in contact with Kamogelo from the VW division that also deals with extensions hoping that she could possibly also assist me in some way. Kamogelo advised that she is not able to assist but if I wanted another extension, but this time through the VW division, she forwarded me a quote to extend from 120 000 KM to 180 000 KM which would include 4 different services at a discount of 5% for only R13 733.00 which could also be paid up over 3 months which again made me suspicious of my current extension.
The feedback I received from Phenyo was that the system made some mistake and that it included my 90 000 KM service as part of my extended service plan and unfortunately there is nothing that they can do but she advised me to contact the VW Customer Interaction Centre because I felt that I was actually owed another service or at least another discount because it didn't make sense to me to pay more for an extension.
I contacted the VW CIC and a nice lady assisted me but when she came back with the feedback, she advised that the system did not make a mistake to include the 90 000 KM service in the extension but the quote I received was correct and there is nothing that they can do. I'm very disappointed with the service I received from Bidvest McCarthy VW Menlyn except for Phenyo as well as how my issue was handled and the fact that they made it seem as if there was nothing wrong. I feel like I've been ****** of one service at least because why could I get another quote for 4 services for almost a similar price as I've paid but with an extra 2% discount. Just doesn't make sense.
