Disappointed....
I bought a brand new Audi A3Sportback in September 2014. I noticed there were some funny sounds from the engine each time I release the brake pedal after driving in traffic for long. This started before even my first service. Each time I reported it I was told they cannot pick it up. The more I explained that it doesnt happen immediately or when the car is driving fast, only when I am stuck in slow moving traffic, the more it fell on deaf ears. I was told that maybe I press the brake pedal too much (I was starting to be really frustrated because it felt as if they did not believe me or they were just dismissing me because they don't "hear" that). I even mentioned that on one of the customer service calls you get after your car was booked for service. On Wednesday 04 May 2016, the car started losing power as I was driving home. I got a message saying "gearbox fault". I contacted Audi Assist and I was advised to drive to the nearest place of safety where they will come and tow it. The car was eventually towed to some storage because it was already late. On Thursday 5 May 2016, I contacted the Audi Sandton dealership (used the details from sms received to locate them). This is basically what happened: 1. The lady who assisted me took my details and promised to call me back. 2. She indeed called and asked for my registration number, which was given to her. After some time, she indicated that my car was not there, they have 24 hour security so there is no way my car would have been towed there. I insisted on giving her the reference number from Audi Assist and she said that wont help. 3. I then contacted Audi Assist and told them what happened and they were actually amazed that no one explained to me that cars that are towed at night are sometimes towed to the dealership after 9am. She then advised me to wait until 10m. 4. Just after 9:30 I received a call from the dealership saying my car has arrived. I wanted to know how long will it take to be attended to and if they will be able to assist with a loan car as I am stranded at home and I have urgent things that I need to attend to; I was coldly and abruptly told these: - priority is given to cars that were booked in for service - they cannot give me a car, actually Audi has no policy to loan cars - my car will be looked at within 48 hours, so I should call again on Monday I then contacted Audi SA and I was told exactly the same thing. I indicated that when I bought a brand new car, I did not expect any problems so soon, let alone a faulty gearbox on an automatic car within 2 years. I then asked if that doesnt count in terms of assisting a customer and all I received was just "no, ma'am, we dont. Dealers are private and they are not obligated to do so". When I asked if AudiSA cannot help again I was told NO. I then wanted to know if my car cannot ge towed to the dealership where I bought it because of the relationship I have with them, I was told that will be at my expense. 5. Today I contacted the dealership just around noon and I was told that my car will be attended to in about 2 hours and probably be finsihed of on Monday. They will call me as soon as they get to it. All these made me realise that I am at the mercy of the Dealership and AudiSA actually does not care about their customers after a car has been bought. If anything, they are quick to bulldoze you with surveys but I doubt if they ever do anything about them. If they did, they would have tried to establish why I complained about some noice before. My car is fairly new, still within warranty and has gearbox issues. What guarantee do I have that after 6 months I will not experience the same thing and then be told that it is no longer within warranty and I should pay for repairs myself? At the moment I am stuck at home, not able to go to work or move around. I am very unhappy about this and I hope that AudiSA will look into my problem and try to speed up the process of getting my car fixed. I am also seeking legal advice regarding the matter. I bought the brand I respected and trusted. I expected them to show a bit of compassion and interest in my problem; considering that we are talking about an 18 month old car.
