AUDI SOUTH AFRICA NO SERVICE

I would just like to share with you my experience I have had with Audi South Africa over the last week.

So on Wednesday 1st March, My wife and I were driving to my parents’ house in the Vaal. When I got to Walkerville my car (Audi A3 Tfsi 2013 sill under moto plan) cut out and a warning popped up on the dash, ECS Stability Failure, so I pulled over to the side of the road. I then opened the bonnet to see if anything obvious was wrong, it was at this point that I saw some smoke coming from the front left side of the car. I thought it might have just been a brake disk that had been catching but this was not the case, at this point a guy pulled over to help me, he was a part of the Walkerville community police forum (Paul). The smoke coming out from the bonnet was getting worse and this is when I saw the first FLAME. I asked Paul if he had or could get water, so he drove off to try find some, I ran up the road to where another car had broken down to ask them for water, fortunately they had some. I ran back to my vehicle and poured the water on the flames, this did not work as the flames kept coming back. Fortunately Paul arrived back and had managed to find a fire extinguisher, which I managed to put the flames out with. I honestly think if it had been 1 minute later the entire car would have gone up in flames.

After all of this the real fun started, trying to deal with Audi road side assistance and then Audi South Africa. Firstly it was a three hour process to get picked up by Audi road side assist, where they then took the car to Audi Vereeniging. I called the next morning and after a bit of frustaration trying to find out what was going on, they got back to me and from this point they were pretty helpful. However, their hands have been tied because of the nature of the incident. With the car setting alight, Audi South Africa have had to get involved and I have since been dealing with them, which has been terrible. Eveytime I speak to them I get told that they are waiting for feedback on the diagnostics, up until this point I still have not been given any feedback as to why my car set alight or how long this whole process is going to take as I need a car to do my job, it is my livelyhood. There has been no urgency from Audi South Africa, in fact they have been quite nonchalant about the whole thing. I would of thought with all the hype there has been around the Ford Kuga they would of been very proactive and addressed this issue as a matter of urgency. I have not been contacted by anyone in management from Audi, I guess that as long as it‘s not them and their family in cars that are bursting into flames, they don‘t really care.
