Audi SA and Audi Umlanga – Painful and hopeless

All this would have been avoided if Audi Umlanga had any competence, customer service and integrity. On top of this Audi SA drags their feet and denies responsibility making this process unnecessarily painful. 41 days have now passed since the car was taken in initially and the same problem still exist.

25 May: Upon arriving in Durban from Johannesburg late evening we noticed that our Audi A5 was rowdy and performance had decreased dramatically. It felt very different had to be taken into the closes dealer - Audi Umlanga

26 May: Car taken into Audi Umlanga 7:30am, Assured car will be inspected the same day. lift given to Umlanga Europe car. 3:30 pm car parked same spot on entryway – not inspected.

27 May: Requested car back, inspection was not fully completed, required waiver to be signed to check out the car to drive back to Johannesburg. Waiver was not signed and the car was left to be fully diagnosed and repaired.

28 May: Flew home to Johannesburg.

30 May: Moto plan expires based on time. Car still in inspection at Audi Umlanga.

31 May: Audi Umlanga informed me that car had been fully inspected and repaired faulty knock sensor. (only electronic testing conducted no mechanical testing) and needed to be fetched. Spoke to Johanna at Audi SA regarding repatriation of the car and voiced concerns with the service of Audi Umlanga which she noted down. Vehicle repatriation was going to take 2 weeks and the vehicle location during this time will be unknown. Agreed that I will have to fly to Durban and drive back to Johannesburg.

3 June Saturday: Flew to Durban, car parked outside the entrance to Audi Umlanga and keys given to a family member. Fetch the vehicle at 2:30 pm. Job car for another car placed in the cubby. Back windscreen glass cover damaged and car mechanical condition felt indifferent from when I took it in - Rowdy and no power.

4 June: Drove to Johannesburg – car rowdy and poor performance.

5- 8 June: Attended a conference out of town (used another car)

10 June Saturday: Took car to Audi Rivonia, without checking in the car ( as forced to by Audi Umlanga), started it and based on the revs immediately realised that there is a problem. Took it in for an inspection and 5 min later showed me that the ****ler was cracked and needed replacing. The crack showed that this issue had been there for a while and had not been tended to by Audi Umlanga. Schedule a booking date for Wed 14 June.

12 June: contacted AudiSA, sent through required documentations. Ccd another email which received the mail. Audi email address was correct.

13 June: AudiSA – documentation not received, AudiSA sent a system generated letter requesting the documentation and to validate the email. I responded with the attached documentations. AudiSA to validate documentation, investigate with Audi Umlanga and Audi Rivonia and feedback on way forward before Friday 16 June.

18 – 22 June: Out of the country on Business.

23 June: Chatted to Lizelle Audi SA, who only received the documentation on the 19 June. Promised to feedback and way forward by 27 June.

27 June: Lizelle, not much progress haven’t yet chatted to audi Rivonia. Promised to feeback by Thursday 29 June. No feedback

4 July: Liezelle – AudiSA requiring Audi Umlanga to pay for damages. Audi Umlanga undermanaged, denning having inspected the car. Chatted to Audi Rivonia. At a stale mate. As AudiSA claim Audi Umlanga is not a representative of Audi SA as they are privately owned and although my car was there during the expiration that does not count as it wasn’t in their possession. Promised to send through a letter confirming our current position – letter not sent through.

Currently: I am still without a functioning car. Have expensed on flights, accommodation and car rental. Car taken in during motor plan – not repaired which may or have already cause follow-on damage.

All this would have been avoided if Audi Umlanga had any competence and customer service. On top of this Audi SA drags their feet and denies responsibility making this process unnecessarily painful. 41 days have now passed since the car was taken in initially and the same problem still exist.

Audi Umlanga booked in the car without doing a brief check and advising, refused to release the car, causing me to incur unassay expenses. They had the car for 9 days and did nothing productive. If the car was taken out as is on Saturday 27 May – it would have been in Audi Rivonia by morning Monday 29 May within motor plan and there would have been no issues in repairing the car however when requested, Audi Umlanga stated that they have not done a full inspection yet and any damage wouldn’t be their fault and I will have to sign waiver to take the car, to which I didn’t sign and requested them to fully repair the car and we will get it back when they done.

I am Tired. Will have to hand this matter over. Wake up guys why should I ever consider Audi again. Your service is revolting.
