Always check you car

My wife took her car for a service on March 28th at Menlyn Audi centre - her car was second in-line to be booked in. The car was booked in (06h30) and Vusi was the service counseler. She waited at the pickup area for a lift home, a lady came and asked her to sign a form after the car had been inspected for scratches. on the form there was 2 scratches indicated. One on the wheel arch and one on the top of the boot.

Vusi phoned at around 11h45 to say the car was in and he would let her know when the car was ready. My wife phoned at around 15h00 to enquire if the car was ready. Vusi informed my wife the car was in the wash bay. Audi picked her up at around 15h30, she arrived and had to wait for Vusi for 15 or so minutes. He explained what was done and proceeded to fetch her car.

The car arrived and Vusi got out and my wife got in and drove away. the next day my wife was visiting her sister and went to put a few items in her boot and noticed a deep scratch below the lock on the boot.

She phoned Audi and asked to speake to the service manager, she told him about the sctatch and her asked her to bring the car in. She took the car back and showed the service manager.

He looked and said yes this will have to be fixed and will cost around R2,500 but the cost of the repair woulf have to be shared 50/50. She was very angry as there was no way the scratch was there before the service.

He said as there are other scratches on the boot the cost of repairs need to be split. He actually said if my wife fixes the other little scratches first them they will pay for the repairs of the new scratch.

She drove away and later phoned Audi customer care, customer care told she it does not sound right and they will get back to her. Aproximatly two days later they contacted her and told her they agreed with the service manager and there was nothing they could do for her.

Surley this is not right, Audi basically admitted the scratch was their fault but not prepaired to fix the problem,
