Auction nation
Good morning Over the years I've been dealing with various auction companies and watched how the morals of these companies ESPECIALLY AUCTION NATION have dropped The standard of customer services are putrit!! There is no transparency and honesty in the information provided for the vehicles that are auctioned. SMD is still the most transparent and truthful about the details provided for auctioned items
Auction Nation is so bad that the same vehicles will be sold multiple times and reappears on the next auctions as if there is no laws or justice to scrutinise these multi million rand currupt organisations. I have many acquaintances and people who are in the same trade who frequent the auction who experienced the same currupt treatment from Auction nation
In a nutshell...
I bought a nissan micra 1.5dci from auction nation ... The vehicle was advertised as a starter on the advert... Because the vehicle had minor damage I bidded very high... When the vehicle came to me it could not start... I tried multiple times but wasn't able to start the car. I notified Auction nation but they said its not their problem any longer as the vehicle had already left their premises.
Going through the car I saw a bottle of liqui molly injector cleaner under passenger seat I also saw that the vehicle has a new starter meaning that the previous owner knew about the starting ISSUE and probably swung the engine until the starter was broken
I ended up having to remove the injectors to send them away for testing due to these injectors being problematic according to my research... 2 injectors came out fairly easily and the other 2 broke out... I was forced to remove the entire cylinder head in order to remove the injectors This costed me labour, parts, engineering (all invoices are available) I also sent the injectors away for testing which costed almost R2000... The quote I got to recondition the injectors were over R19000 (quote available)
Where does this leave me... Don't have any money to repair the injectors as this was out of my budget...

3.1. In accordance with regulation 32 of the CPA a notice containing the following particulars is to be attached to the vehicle at all times when the vehicle is available for inspection by the prospective bidders. Inspection of vehicles for online auction can take place Monday – Friday 08:30 – 16:30 at the branch the vehicle is located at. For online auctions perspective buyers are able to inspect the vehicle prior to the auction date at the branch the vehicle is located at.
4.9. In terms of section 55(1) of the CPA, goods are sold “voetstoots”, as is, with no guarantees or warranties; express or imp****. Bidders are entitled at no fee to inspect the goods on offer prior to the commencement of the auction in accordance with sub-regulation 28(5) of the CPA. Bidders on Online auctions will be able to view 360-degree pictures of the vehicle for inspection as well have the option to visit the branch the vehicle is located at and physically inspect the vehicle prior to the auction should they choose to. A bid shall be taken as proof that the bidder has inspected the goods and/or has satisfied himself/herself with the condition of the goods for which he or she bids.
4.26. The purchaser acknowledges that he/she has inspected the vehicle(s), has acquainted himself/herself with the condition of the vehicle(s) and is aware of the fact that the condition of the vehicle(s) is such that it may be in need of repair in order to be driven safely in compliance with the relevant statutes, or at all.
Given the above, we acted well within our rights and were transparent throughout the auction process.
