Asus Computer failure

I bought an ASUS F541UA-GQ1839T Intel Core i5 15.6" Notebook last year. What an absolute JOKE! After 15 months this computer (sparingly used and as good as new) simply stopped working over the weekend. Takealot tells me tough, they are not prepared to entertain my problem due to it being out of warranty. The manufacturer service department tells me this happens rarely and i must throw the unit away!!!! They cannot repair it????!!! What a disgrace!! What a poor show! Not even a sympathetic ear or hand!
