Aqua Marine Projects

I wish to formally express my dissatisfaction with the services provided by Aqua Marine Projects. The workmanship delivered at my property was of an unacceptably low standard. The tiling around the pool area was uneven and improperly installed, with no adequate leveling or grouting carried out. As a result, I was compelled to remove and replace all the tiles at my own expense. Furthermore, the contractor demonstrated a lack of professionalism, commitment, and accountability throughout the duration of the project. Agreed timelines were not adhered to, and communication was inconsistent and unreliable. The issues extended to the pool installation itself, which was also completed to a substandard level. In light of the above, I am unable to recommend Aqua Marine Projects for any form of construction or renovation work.

Poor workmanship

Serious Warning: Aqua Marine Projects – Mr. J. Cantin My experience with Mr. J. Cantin and Aqua Marine Projects was extremely disappointing and raises serious concerns about workmanship, professionalism, and integrity. On 5 January, Mr. Cantin visited my home and provided a quote. I accepted the quote and was immediately asked to pay a 70% deposit, which I did without delay. It was agreed the project would take approximately two weeks. This timeframe was not met. Work only began on 18 January, and from that point forward, the project was plagued by delays, shifting excuses, and repeated follow-ups on my side. During the build, Mr. Cantin requested additional payments, including an urgent request for R15,000, despite the deposit already being paid as agreed. The pool net, which was supposedly included in the initial agreement, became another source of delay. I was repeatedly given excuses about supplier issues and poor communication. Despite ongoing promises, the net was not delivered on time, and the situation dragged on for weeks. Eventually, I had to escalate the matter, after which only the net deposit of R7,500 was refunded. After completion, serious defects became apparent. Once the pool was filled, it was clear that the fibreglass work was not properly executed, with visible lifting from the pool wall. I arranged for inspections by two independent pool companies and an assessor. The findings were alarming. There is clear evidence of seepage around the pool surface, indicating that the sealant was either not app**** correctly or not app**** at all. This is a fundamental failure in pool construction. Despite this, Mr. Cantin denied responsibility and made false claims that work had not been done on the affected area, which is contradicted by the installation of tiles and lighting. This experience involved delays, inconsistent communication, unmet commitments, and serious workmanship issues that required external assessment to identify. The final result is a defective pool that does not meet acceptable standards. I strongly advise against using Aqua Marine Projects or Mr. J. Cantin for any pool installation work. Based on my experience, their workmanship is unacceptable and their service unreliable.

Swimming pool remarblelite - warnings

I wanted to share an unfortunate experience I had with a pool repair and resurfacing job that I undertook in November of last year. After four years of putting it off, I finally decided to bite the bullet and get my pool fixed by taking out a loan. I obtained two quotes and eventually chose Jamie from Aqua Marine Pools (Also AquaScape). Important to note, the quote included a two-year warranty as stated via WhatsApp. Additionally, when I inquired about VAT inclusion, I was given the run-around, which in hindsight, should have been my first red flag regarding their integrity. From the outset, the project was a disaster. Suddenly, my previously functional pool pump was deemed to need replacing. I trusted Jamie, thinking, "He’s the professional, and he wouldn’t cheat me, right?" Then, my timer, which was also working fine before, was going to be taken out. But again, trusting the professional, I let it happen. The job was completed in an appallingly poor manner. The inlets weren't installed correctly, the pool light was, and remains, non-functional, and some cabling was left hanging and exposed to the elements – this still hasn't been fixed. Weatherproof junction boxes were removed, the electrical DB box was left hanging off the side of my pump housing, and the pipes were broken and replaced with ones so close to the surface that they might as well be surface-mounted. The overall quality was shockingly bad. Although certain parts of this were later corrected, the overall work completed was not of an acceptable standard. To make matters worse, my garden was completely destroyed, and I am still clearing the ******* left all over my property. Strangely, the two expensive items that were *****not working***** were removed from my property. Fast forward four months, and the pool has cracked, dumping 20,000 liters of water in just four days. Naturally, I referred to the two-year warranty and contacted Jamie - fully understanding that this might be an infrastructure issue (however that should have been picked up during the initial repair works). As expected (due to previous experience), he made promises via WhatsApp but never showed up. Disappointed, but not surprised. Legal action might be taken All I can say is to ensure you double-check references from previous clients, not just suppliers or contractors, when considering this particular installer. Thank you for taking the time to read about my experience. I hope this helps others avoid the same pitfalls.
