APM Bus Left My Baby Sister Behind. A Dangerous Act That Could Cost a Life

I'm writing this with deep fear, anger, and heartbreak. My baby sister was booked to travel with APM Bus from Bloemfontein to East London, with the scheduled departure time clearly stated as 1:30 AM.

To our shock and horror, the bus left at 1:10 AM 20 minutes early just as she arrived at the station. She was not late. APM was early. The driver saw her arriving, and still, he drove off without a word, leaving a young woman stranded alone in the middle of the night.

In a country like South Africa, where Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) is a terrifying reality, how can a company act with such negligence and disregard for a woman’s safety?

She was left vulnerable, afraid, and alone, and now, on top of it all, she has to go back to campus without sleep, without rest, and emotionally shaken. This entire ordeal was completely avoidable.

We book with companies like APM because we trust them to prioritise safety and professionalism, but what APM did wasn’t just poor service it was irresponsible, dangerous, and heartless.

Who decided it was okay to leave 20 minutes early? Why is there no proper check-in or accountability? Who takes responsibility when something goes wrong?

I demand answers. And I demand that APM take full accountability for this disgraceful and traumatic experience.

This is not just transport these are people's lives.
