******* Access to personal information

This company insists on emailing me calling me a client and stating things like “we deem you to have accepted our terms and conditions by reading this email”. They also claim to be POPI Act compliant. This is a false claim as I have never been an AON customer so where did they get my personal data from? No-one at AON is authorised to see my personal information and yet it somehow sits on their database (or even multiple databases if they’re stupid enough to have “customer” data in more than one place) so who knows how many individuals at AON have ******* access to my personal data? I’d also like to know why they think I’m a client of theirs. Oh, and by the way, I do NOT accept any of their terms and conditions so they can deem what they want but I accept nothing whatsoever. So how did they get my personal data?

Don’t you just love these companies in breach of the POPI act making vague noncommittal responses such as “the merits of your complaint” and we may get back to you in “due course”. So this tells me that your first reaction is to undermine the complaint and insinuate to anyone who reads it that it has no merit. If I don’t get a response I WILL take this further. I gave no one at AON permission to use my data yet you keep emailing me and making statements such as “by receiving this email you are deemed to accept” a whole lot of small print horsesh*t. Who do you think you are? How dare you!! You proudly proclaim POPI compliance at exactly the same time you are in clear breach of the Act. So whilst you’re in breach of South African private individual data legislation you can sound as conceited, superior and insulting as you wish but you are still breaking the law and I am only just getting started making a noise about this. Charlatans!
